Our high quality course is run by qualified ESOL tutors and the total duration of each course is 40 hours spread over a maximum period of 3 weeks, as recommended by the Home Office and the English Speaking Board (ESB). Similarly the exam is split into four brief and explicable sections, and is carried out by independent external examiners from the English Speaking Board (ESB) or City & Guilds, who are recognized and accepted by the Home Office.

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates who are applying for the Indefinate Leave to Remain or any other visas can use the same certificate again when they wish to apply for their naturalisation. The certificate has no expiry date and can be used as and when suitable. The certificate you will receive is an ESOL Skills for life qualification in speaking and listening at Entry Level, which satisfies the Home Office requirements.

In order to enroll on the course we require 2 passport size photos, a proof of address and the applicants travel document or passport. The total cost of the course is £240 which is fully inclusive of the exam fees, certificate fees and a cover letter for the Home Office. Please call for further details.

If you wish to apply for UK Naturalisation or Indefinite leave to remain, there are certain requirements you will need to meet prior to your application. Please see the following link for more information:

Click here for information on applying for a British passport.
Click here for information on applying for indefinite leave to remain.

The main requirements are:

  1. You can communicate in the English language to an acceptable degree and
  2. You have sufficient knowledge of life in the United Kingdom
  3. You have completed the course at an accredited college.

If your English language level is NOT at ESOL Entry 3 or above, you will need to take an ESOL course to show your knowledge of language and life in the United Kingdom. The course must include citizenship materials, completed at an Accredited college and allow you to gain sufficient knowledge of the United Kingdom at the same time as developing your knowledge of the English language. Before you apply for citizenship or leave to remain, you will need to show evidence that you have moved up from one ESOL level to the next. This evidence must be part of your application. The ESOL Citizenship course is designed to help you improve your English language and help you gain sufficient knowledge of Life in the UK. You will then be assessed by an external approved awarding body, the English Speaking Board (ESB) or City & Guilds.

At BSGS College Leyton, successful candidates will receive a certificate from the ESB or City & Guilds and an official letter stating that the candidate has completed and passed an Entry Level ESOL course with citizenship content. This will address both the above three requirements and your certificate and letter can be used as evidence. This means, you will not need to take the Life in the UK test (computer test).

Note: If you require help with your application for Citizenship / Indefinite Leave to Remain / Work Permit / Tier 1 / Tier 2 / Tier 3 / Student Visas, we have OISC registered case workers who can assist with your application (Additional fee for this applicable).
